His research is devoted to the characterization and understanding of disease mechanism, and the discovery and design of new therapeutics. The mechanistic understanding of the disease-causing protein assists in the discovery and design of small molecule to function as an activator or inhibitor of the protein target. A focused approach that uses the proteins structural information and computer simulation to design a specific therapeutics that is biophysically and biochemically tested for its effect on human proteins with medical relevance. Protein targets include human Hexokinase II, Cystic Fibrosis Trans-membrane conductance Regulator (CFTR) ion channel, and Septins GTP-Binding proteins. In addition, Dr. Rabeh is interested to study the color producing mechanism of light produced from the luciferase reaction as part of his work in the field of bioluminescence.

Teaching

Fellowships/Honors

2010 Young Investigator Best Abstract in Basic Science Award,
The 24th Annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

2010 Postdoctoral Fellowship,
Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Toronto, ON, Canada

2008 Postdoctoral Fellowship,
Groupe de Recherche Axé sur la Structure des Protéines (GRASP), McGill University, QC, Canada

2004 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award,
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Oklahoma.

2000 Recognition and Honor Award,
Alpha Phi Omega, University of Oklahoma

["post-79","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
