Overview
On Motherhood and its Shadows: Kaleidoscope of Events
This event is co-organized by Laila Soliman and Lama Choufani; and the exhibit is co-organized by Khulood Alawadi. The second iteration of the multidisciplinary kaleidoscope of events delves into motherhood as concept and reality. This inclusive project brings together scholars, artists, researchers and students to unpack the complex landscape of mothering and being mothered and the profound personal choices made in relation to both. Contributions will explore topics such as journeys of (in)fertility, reproductive labor and rights, regional histories of motherhood and representations in art and literature. Convened by NYU Abu Dhabi Arts and Humanities Research Kitchens and supported by the NYU Abu Dhabi Arts & Humanities Research Kitchens, the Office of Inclusion and Equity, and NYUAD Arts Center.
This event series features exhibitions, public talks and panel discussions open to the NYUAD community and by invitation only. You can view the full details the exhibition, the panels and the panelists here.
