“Liminal Urbanisms: New Perspectives on Representing and Documenting Gulf Cities” Symposium

Overview

“Liminal Urbanisms: New Perspectives on Representing and Documenting Gulf Cities” Symposium

This symposium is co-convened by Professors Katia Arfara, Tala Gharagozlou, George Katodrytis, Sandra Peters. Supported by the Al Mashhad Research Kitchen, the symposium aim is to discuss the specific and peculiar character of the urban and natural environment in the Gulf, beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. Liminal spaces, in their broadest definition, provide opportunities to rethink the conventional narrative where the scale and speed of transformations of Gulf cities might render them perpetually elusive. At the intersection of architecture, art, landscape architecture and urbanism, the symposium explores the multiple forms of urban liminalities and processes and counter urbanization in the Gulf. View the agenda | Click here to register.
