Gulf Homes – Being Borrowed: On Egyptian Migration to the Gulf

Al-Mashhad Research Kitchen invites you to take part in a series of events around migration to the Gulf.

Join us for the opening reception of the exhibition Being Borrowed:On Egyptian Migration to the Gulf on Thursday, January 11, 5:30PM at The Project Space. The curatorial team and some of the artists will be present.

On Friday, January 12, 6PM in the Reading Room, we will hold the first of a conversation series with UAE-based artists and scholars of Gulf migration. Entitled “Living Arrangements”, this conversation will gather NYUAD alumni and artists Matthew Tan and Sree; PhD candidate Saleh Seid Adem; and Being Borrowed artist Farida Serag. The conversation will be launched by a projection of Matthew Tan’s film Partition. Email laure.assaf@nyu.edu for more information and to register for this event.

On Saturday, January 13, the curators and artists of Being Borrowed will propose a tour of the exhibition. Meet us at The Project Space at 3:30PM to hear all about the conception of the exhibition and of its artworks!

The exhibition will be open in the Project Space till February 7, 2024
