George Katodrytis is an architect involved in practice, teaching and research. He is currently Professor of Architecture at the College of Architecture, Art and Design of the American University of Sharjah since 2001. He also served as the Head of the Department of Architecture between 2017-2023. He studied and taught at the Architectural Association School of Architecture and The Bartlett in London, UK. He worked with Bernard Tschumi in Paris on the Parc de la Villette. He has been a visiting professor at various schools around the world. He built several projects in Europe as well as published widely on contemporary architecture, urbanism, cultural theory and digital media. The work addresses the ‘city’, especially as it is evolving in the 21st century. He employs digital technology and scripting as tools for establishing new formal and performative language. He is the co-editor of the Architectural Design issue ‘UAE and the Gulf: Architecture and Urbanism Now’.
