Ram Ganesh Kamatham is a playwright, director and researcher. He has received the Sultan Padamsee Playwriting Award twice – for his ground-breaking text Undaunted in 2020 and for his satirical comedy Ultimate Kurukshetra in 2011. Ram’s practice-led research has been awarded multiple fellowships and grants; his plays have been performed internationally and have been translated into Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and German. He was a Felix Scholar at SOAS, London where he earned an MA in the Anthropology of Media, and was a Lee Foundation Scholar at RSIS, NTU Singapore where he earned an MSc in International Relations. Three systems form the basis of Ram’s physical vocabulary: climbing, the Japanese system of Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu where he is a 4th Dan black belt holder, and Kalaripayattu. Ram has consulted with UNESCO on edutech and the prevention of violent extremism (PVE), and works in peacebuilding initiatives. He is interested in interdisciplinarity, interculturalism and work that investigates consciousness through somatic practice.
