Katy McAlary conducts multidisciplinary research on the evolving state of transnational feminist solidarity with particular focus on communal, cross-border artist activism. She has her B.A. in Education, English, and Spanish, followed by graduate degrees in English: Literature, World Religions, and
Anthropology with emphases in Gender Studies and Political Science.<\/p>\n
Katy’s current doctoral research in Cultural Analysis centers on questions of censorship and artistic expression amidst exiled communities, transnational feminist collaboration amidst postcolonial structures, aesthetic corporeal reflections and bodily representations in re(comm)union with nature, and the intersection of marginalized community narratives within the scope of (inter)national political spheres. Her
previous research and publications have focused on literary representations of trauma through multimodal literary devices; religious to socio-political representations of eunuch and
transgender populations; as well as strategies to engage critical pedagogy within multicultural
classrooms. She has held university teaching and teacher training positions in Bangladesh,
India, South Korea, as well as the US \u2013 Washington State University and University of Idaho \u2013prior to teaching at New York University Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
