She is a specialist on women artists affiliated with Surrealism and the intersections between Surrealism and the Americas. Past projects include\u00a0<i>In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States<\/i>\u00a0(Los Angeles County Museum of Art, with Ilene Susan Fort and Tere Arcq) and \u201c\u2018My Goddesses and My Monsters\u2019: Maria Martins and Surrealism in the 1940s,\u201d in\u00a0<i>Debates on Surrealism in Latin America: Vivisimo Muerto<\/i>\u00a0(Getty Research Institute). Geis\u2019s work has also investigated Surrealism\u2019s connections with Afro-Caribbean art and culture, with essays including \u201cGreat Impulses and New Paths: VVV, Surrealism, and the Black Atlantic\u201d (<i>Revue Miranda<\/i>, Universit\u00e9 Toulouse, 2017). Other publications include an essay for the retrospective exhibition\u00a0<i>Leonora Carrington: Magical Tales\u00a0<\/i>(Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, 2018), and multiple essays for\u00a0<i>The International Encyclopedia of Surrealism<\/i>\u00a0(London: Bloomsbury Academic, 2019).
