Ala Younis<\/strong> is an artist focusing on research, film, and publishing projects. Younis\u2019s projects look into how the archive plays on predilections and how its mishaps manipulate the imagination. She curated several shows including Kuwait\u2019s first pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2013). She is co-Head of Berlinale\u2019s Forum Expanded, co-Artistic Director of Singapore Biennale 2022, and a member of the Akademie der K\u00fcnste der Welt (Cologne). She co-founded the independent publishing initiative,\u00a0Kayfa ta,<\/i>\u00a0which researches and publishes on and through independent endeavors.\u00a0Among the publications, Younis edited\u00a0Tin Soldiers<\/i>\u00a0(2012),\u00a0Territorial Subjects: Twenty Years of YAYA<\/i>\u00a0(Qattan Foundation, 2019), and\u00a0Abdul Hay Mosallam Zarara<\/i>\u00a0(Sharjah Art Foundation, 2020). She co-edited\u00a0How to maneuver: Shapeshifting texts and other publishing tactics<\/i>\u00a0(Kayfa ta and Warehouse421, 2020), and\u00a0Time Is Out Of Joint<\/i>\u00a0(Sharjah Art Foundation, 2016).\u00a0\u00a0She led the online workshops\u00a0Superheat<\/i>\u00a0(2020) for Studio-X \/ Columbia Global Center and\u00a0unprepared<\/i>\u00a0(2021) for Qattan Foundation.\u00a0Her work and writings are published in numerous publications including e-flux, Nafas Art, Mizna Journal, Ibraaz, Creative Time, Camera Austria, Divan Journal, and Flash Art.\u00a0\u00a0Younis holds a BSc. in Architecture from the University of Jordan (1997) and MRes in Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London (2016).<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Terri Geis is an art historian, independent curator, and museum educator.
