About us
The NYU Abu Dhabi Design Technology Lab (DTL) is a research lab that fosters a deeply interdiscplinary approach to technology design.
DTL’s objectives are to:
- Work on real-world technological design problems regardless of their field: History, Liter- ature, Sciences, etc.
- Bring technological design concepts into reality.
- Understand how technology influences and shapes society.
- Educate students on technology design and develop their abilities to communicate and create.
- Develop a generation of designers and entrepreneurs who will lead technological development.
In addition, DTL serves as:
A physical space. The Design Technology Lab serves as a space for technology-driven cross-discipline research collaborations. In this space researchers from different fields will share experiences, learn from each other and explore new research ideas.
A diverse community. The Design Technology Lab is a resource for students, both under- graduates and graduates, faculty, and visiting scholars from all disciplines. The lab is also a resource for the local community: a place where local technological problems are brought to light and tackled.
A hub for activity. The lab will hold exhibitions, workshops, lectures and networking events. It will also enable the progression of research prototypes to entrepreneurial ventures that benefit the local and global community.
A common vision. Our research objective is to work on unique, impactful and magical technological projects that continuously evolve and humanize our world.
