Southeast Asia is South-east Asia.  It is the third most populous region (measured by UN subregions) in the world.  It is the least represented world region in most university curricula; it is the least least least represented world region in most university curricula relative to its rank in population.

  • How did we get here?
  • What do we lose by creating university curricula with such oversight regarding the measure of human experience?
  • What will we gain by addressing this loss?
  • How do we focus on the particular configurations of human experience in Southeast Asia without particularizing that experience as “particular”?
  • How can we build a more inclusive university?

This series—Southeast Asia across the Curriculum—raises these questions and invites members of the NYUAD community to join us in finding answers.
