Her research interests include the intersection of public policy and international development with a focus on sustainability in the Asia Pacific region. Outside of academics, Mia enjoys spending time outdoors and working out with friends. 
 

Khoa Tran | Managing Editor

Khoa Tran is a Senior from Vietnam studying Legal Studies. His research revolves around how technology and policy innovation can drive sustainable development and the welfare of developing countries. He has publications in Religions (2077-1444) and Patient Preference and Adherence (1177-889X). He is also the founder of two education start-ups in Vietnam, VSPACE Education, and Miyork Organization.

Valerie is a Senior from China studying Economics. Her research interests lay in the field of labor economics, development economics, and east asian history. Outside of academics, Valerie enjoys cooking and baking and reading historical pieces.
 

Zhong Chen (Zack) Tan | Senior Editor

Zhong Chen/Zack is a Senior from Singapore studying Social Research and Public Policy, with minors in Arabic and Public Health. His research interests lie broadly in the field of international development, public health, early childhood development, and gender. On campus, he is also a part of REACH, the Writing Center, the Applied Global Public Health Initiative, and the Parkour SIG.
 

Michael Xu | Senior Editor

Michael is a Senior from Northeast China majoring in Economics and minoring in Arabic and Computer Science. His potential research interests include primarily the fields of data science and visualization, econometrics theories and models, and possibly natural language processing. In terms of non-curricular, university-related activities, Michael has worked with the Student Embassy Ambassador Liaison Program (SEAL) as the contacting point for the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Abu Dhabi, served as the President of NYUAD Tower of Babel, and co-organized the “#NYUCheerUpChina” Event in Spring 2020.

Alya is a senior studying Film and Social Research & Public Policy. Her research focuses on the MENA region, including issues of national identity, collective memory, gender, education policy, and migrant rights. Beyond the social sciences, her passions include screenwriting and film photography.

Matthew Holmes | Managing Editor

Matthew is a senior from Brisbane, Australia studying Political Science and Arabic language. His research interests include international security, terrorism, political disinformation and conflict in the MENA region.

Anna is a senior from Ukraine studying Economics. Her research interests lay in the field of public policy, international relations, and economics. Outside of academics, Anna is greatly involved with the NYUAD Debate Union.

Maryam is an Emirati senior majoring in Economics with a focus on Finance. Her research interests includes financial technologies, financial services, cryptocurrencies, mental health, psychology and psychiatry. Beyond academics, Maryam works on writing articles, stories and poems. She is also passionate about nutrition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and managing well-being and positive emotions.
